Tonight on CI, It’s the media roundtable a look at some of the top stories of the week.
Among the stories we’re discussing- the financial crisis at Syracuse Symphony. The orchestra has launched a Keep the Music Playing Campaign in order to get community and government support. The symphony faces an immediate cash deadline next week. The debate is centers around the plan for the symphony’s future, whether the community can afford to keep one if it’s cultural mainstays, and to what extent should there be taxpayer support. Cazenovia Area Energy Challenge

The Cazenovia Energy Challenge where residents compete to find ways to save money on their energy bill. Cazenovia will be the first community in the region to participate in the challenges. The Central New York Climate Change Innovation Program aims to improve energy efficiency in municipal operations, increase the use renewable energy, and enable land use and transportation policies that manage GHG emissions and reduce vehicle miles traveled. The program is being facilitated by the Central New York Regional Planning and Development Board. Residents will compete to see whom the biggest loser in energy savings is, and win an energy efficient appliance donated by a local hardware store. The average household spends more than $2,200 a year on energy bills – nearly half of which goes to heating and cooling. Homeowners can save about $180 a year by properly setting their programmable thermostats and maintaining those settings. State of the Union

The President sounded the theme of Winning the Future will investments in infrastructure, education, and innovation.
